We've purchased our plane tickets, booked the hotel rooms for the group, and started making appointments with the different warehouses, factories and showrooms we will seeing.
We are flying out of Sacramento with a layover in San Francisco then straight through to Hong Kong. 16 hours, ugh! Then, to make matters worse, we immediately catch a flight on Philippines Air to Cebu City to check out that bead scene for future tours before coming back to Hong Kong to start the tour. (That will be another 8 hour flight). Yikes!
Anyway, the weather in Hong Kong will be springlike, and livable, the food will be amazing, the buying great, and we will have lots of fun.
The first buying day will be pearls. Freshwater and saltwater pearls. I know at least one traveler will be buying a strand of Tahitians. She told me. And then there's J-Me... I'm already cringing at what she is going to spend.
The second day is stone beads and cabachons. This will be a fabulous day, mainly because there is a fantastic Japanese sushi restaurant located down an alley in this area that is to die for. The trip is worth going on just for this restaurant.
Then the button and trim district. Wow. What can I say....10 blocks of buttons, yarn, thread, trim, metal findings, feathers, fur....you name it, its here. And its fabulous.
The jade market gets squeezed in after that, along with Temple St by day and by night(for two different experiences). There will be a chance to go back to the pearl district, and the stone district, if needed.
Lastly, there is Victoria Peak cable car to ride, along with the ferry to Hong Kong Island, and a ride on the world's longest outdoor escalator through the Antique District and lunch in the Pub District. (bangers and mash). Possibly a trip to see the Giant Buddah, or a day at Disneyland.
We'll be staying on Nathan Road in Kowloon, close to the ferry station. Even a side trip to Macau for some gambling is possible.
I'm so excited. Are we there yet?
